Finding happiness and becoming Confident

I've never been motivated by materialistic things- but I am very motivated by fun! And the best part about this whole coaching gig is that we get to do some cool personality tests, which helps me understand myself better, and what makes me feel AMAZING! Some things I've realized have helped me move forward and be the happiest I've ever been is:

Focus on YOU! Stop comparing myself to other people, and getting angry because they “seem to have it all.” Better house, nicer car, married with children, have all the latest outdoor toys. I know lots of people who seem to "have it all" and are still miserable. It's because they let themselves go, and don't know who they are anymore. You CAN have it all too! It all starts with believing in yourself, and working hard everyday to get what you want!

The grass is greener on the other side. Believing if you had these materialistic things, then your life would be complete! That designer bag, the bigger house, or Sally's boyfriend - then you would be happy. That's complete Bullshit! Nobody is in control of your thoughts or feeling -YOU ARE! You get to make the choice every damn day how you want feel! So, wake up, be grateful and tell yourself that today is another incredible day to be alive!

Let go of the past and forgive. I know this is a hard one (or at least it was for me). I had to write out several forgiveness letters to myself and others. I would do this several times a day, for months before I could let go and forgive. It has been the most therapeutic thing I've ever done. I can’t change the past- I can only move forward and strive to be 1% better/ stronger every day.

Stop trying to be someone that you aren't! For the longest time, I tried pretending that I was someone who I wasn't. It was the most exhausting, stressful thing EVER! Your vibes will attract YOUR tribe. I would try to be this quiet, shy girl around my exe’s family and friends because I always feared they wouldn't like or accept the real me. I'd be so uncomfortable I would get black out drunk and make a COMPLETE ass of myself. Every single time! BE YOU! And your people will accept and love you for that.

How I gained confidence:

I've recently been focusing on filling my own cup first, and said the f**k with dating. Don’t get me wrong, dating is fun! But when you feel like you are getting trapped into something you aren't ready for it brings up uneasy feelings.  This is checking in with my challengers, giving recognizing where its due, complimenting and giving praise to others where it’s due, and hanging with my girlfriends. Friday night vibes of staying at home chilling- hot bath, with Epsom salts, candles, a guided meditation, then watching Netflix in bed with my dog! Some of my other self care favorites are: seeing the Chiropractor, then going for a massage. Getting dressed up in clothes that makes me feel fabulous, and shopping, dinner and drinks with girlfriends.

Lesson learned: Don't catch feelings. Hang with your girlfriends and wait for the prince charming that gives you butterflies to come along. Don't settle for anything less! You can read more about my experience about this here

Working out! It boosts happiness, helps you sleep better, increase self confidence.

Eating clean and drinking at least 2 L of water every day. Add freshly squeezed lemon juice, to help with digestion, re-hydrate your body, which gives you more energy, flushes toxins from your body, making your skin clean and clear. And, helps increase your metabolism.

I strive to be 1% better every day than I was yesterday. I read or listen to at least 10 minutes ofPersonal development daily. Some of my favorites:

Books:
  • You are a Bad Ass by Jen Sincero
  • Girl Code by Cara Alwill Leyba
  • The Champagne Diet by Cara Alwill Leyba
  • Sparkle by Cara Alwill Leyba.

Pod Casts:
  • Style your mind by Cara Alwill
  • Hungry for More by Angie Lee
  • Earn your Happy by Lori Harder
  • The School of Greatness by Lewis Howes
  • The Jillian Michael’s Show

I keep a blank journal where I write out what I’m grateful for, as well as affirmations, daily! Here are some that I tweaked myself from the Champagne Diet.

"I truly believe I am worthy of an amazing life. My weight does not define what I am capable of or what I deserve."
"I take responsibility for my own health. I focus on health over weight-loss and accept that there is no "quick- fix."
"I indulge in delicious, whole foods that energize my body, mind and soul. I create nourishing rituals to restore balances and wellness in my body."
"I enjoy and savoir a glass of champagne whenever I want one. I do not deprive myself o the things I love."
I eliminate the things in my life that do not serve me. I feed my body and soul with only the best."
"I treat myself the way I would treat my best friend with kind, loving words of encouragement and support, always."
I love and I appreciate my body and all the amazing things it does for me. I celebrate all the things I have accomplished."
"I harness my feminine energy always. I relish in the joy that is being a girl."
"I do not view exercise as punishment or torture. I keep my beautiful body in motion because it deserves nothing less."

People are experiencing deeper levels of unhappiness, low self-esteem, and feelings of resentment, even in the middle of seemingly "having it all." So, put on clothes that makes you feel FABULOUS, and head out shopping with a girlfriend, then grab a drink.  Laugh, A LOT! Let shit go. Smile at everyone. Find what makes YOU happy! :) There is no short cut in getting to know yourself.

Remember, self-care isn't another task to add to your to-do list. Instead, self-care is made of daily rituals that help you survive your to-do list and stay sane and happy at the end of the day. Self-care practices shouldn’t be another task to add to your never-ending to-do list. Your self-care is whatever helps you recharge. So, if bubble baths don't do that for you, then you're right and it's time to find what does!
